It reads “People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.” There’s a reason why sales motivation is required on a daily basis. It’s because sales is difficult. Sure, it’s not rocket science or astrophysics, but it’s difficult when you hear “no” time and time again. It’s difficult when no matter how hard you try, you might fall short on your monthly quotas. That’s why there are literally hundreds of sales blogs, sales books, and motivational speakers out there that cater to salespeople. One thing that I have noticed, however, is that salespeople tend to overlook or don’t know about all the great sales Podcasts that are out there for free.
What is a Podcast? A Podcast is essentially a free lecture that is uploaded to the iTunes store by a company or an individual. Podcasts cover all areas of interest, from history to economics. All of them offer something different and can be extremely insightful. Oftentimes, I would rather listen to a Podcast rather than an audio book. Most episodes can be anywhere from 10 minutes long to over an hour, depending on the subject. The Podcasts that cater to salespeople offer some of the best advice and motivation that you can find. The best part? They are free! You can download them on to any device that runs iTunes.
Without further ado, here are the 5 Podcasts that I subscribe to and listen to on the daily.
This appropriately named Podcast is hosted by Will Barron, who is an author and speaker. He runs the website salesman.red and is often looked to as a key source for sales education. He spends his time diving deep in to the sales process and interviewing the most respected field experts to give you the best information. He releases multiple episodes each week, so get ready for a constant stream of great information. The best part is that his interviews do not solely consist of sales people, but rather, anybody in any industry who can offer great information and advice.
The Sales Podcast
Another “straight to the point and accurately named” title, The Sales Podcast is another fantastic source for information from real experts. This Podcast is hosted by Wes Schaeffer, who is a sales expert and a fellow blogger at TheSalesWhisperer.com. This Podcast focuses on unscripted interviews with business leaders and experts. You will gain real world and practical advice for closing more deals and increasing your income.
B2B (business to business) Growth is a Podcast that is solely devoted to the art of selling products from a B2B standpoint rather than B2C (business to consumer). It’s easy to overlook the fact that a lot of sales is conducted within two business organizations. This Podcast is entirely devoted to improving B2B Salespeople’s processes and increasing their volume. It’s full of highly informative and inspirational lectures. However, if you are a B2C Salesperson, you can still benefit from the lessons and information here.
Advanced Selling Podcast
This Podcast is hosted by two master salespeople – Bill Caskey and Bryan Neale. This Podcast is a fan favorite for both B2B and B2C salespeople. They like to mix humor with professionalism to keep this one entertaining and informative. This one is actually the longest running sales Podcast, so they have fine-tuned their delivery and message for their audience. Both Bill and Bryan are 20+ year sales veterans, so they definitely know what they are talking about.
The Sales Blog – In the Arena with Anthony Iannarino
Anthony Iannarino has one of the world’s most popular and informative sales blogs on the planet: TheSalesBlog.com. It has a loyal following of tens of thousands of viewers on a daily basis. It is knows for providing some of the most inspirational and most educational content for sales professionals. It only makes sense that the accompanying Podcast be as popular and as informative. Anthony not only speaks about the skill set needed to be successful in sales (closing techniques, psychological cues, etc), but also, focuses on the mental and emotional states of the salesperson, which is sometimes arguably more important.
These Podcasts are a great tool to help improve your sales numbers. You will surely see an improvement in your technique, attitude, knowledge, and comfort level. The best part is that unlike sales books or sales motivational speaking seminars, these are all 100% free. It’s a no-brainer; definitely take advantage of the free information to become the best salesperson that you can be.
