Growing up, my dad was a very accomplished and successful sales professional in the manufacturing industry. Having that influence, I started my first sales venture as a young kid in school. I started a “business” in which I would sell pencils to other students who forgot them in class. Although the enterprise ultimately failed (market was not there for a full-scale rollout) I quickly discovered that the world of sales, marketing, and business was where I wanted to be. Professionally, I have over 10 years of experience in sales & marketing – both over the phone and face-to-face.
In June of 2016, I started ExperCaller.com originally as a website devoted only to sales over the phone (I was a phone salesperson at the time). Since then, it has expanded to include face-to-face sales and customer service/CX. I founded the website with hopes to help sales & marketing professionals build their confidence, exceed their goals, and make more money. In January of 2017, ExpertCaller.com was honored as a “Top Customer Experience Influencer.” As of recently (October 2017) I just published my 100th article on ExpertCaller.com. My work has also been featured in the CCW Digital publication, The Center for Client Retention website, and PhoneBurner.com.
In 2017, I published my first sales & marketing book: Your Road Map to Success in Sales: A Step-by-Step Guide to Closing Your Next Sales Call. I am currently working on my second book, which will be geared towards customer service/CX and how it relates to sales.
In all honesty, I was not a stellar student in high school. I got by easy enough, but there was certainly room for improvement. I did enjoy the business classes though. Eventually, I ended up taking a few college-level business classes at Southwestern Michigan College during my senior year. 4 years later in 2013, I graduated from college at Purdue University with a B.S. in management with a triple minor – marketing, entrepreneurship, and philosophy. In 2014, I enrolled at Jacksonville State University and graduated with an MBA one year later.
However, as we all know, the real education comes from experience. I failed and stumbled a lot. I have missed many quotas and have blown easy sales opportunities. When you fail, you learn and improve. Experience is the best teacher, and I’m still learning new stuff every day. Although I have an MBA, there is still a lot to learn and discover.
I have been married to my wife, Ashley, since 2013. Without her support and encouragement, none of this would be possible. We have two golden retriever dogs (Austin and Bentley) and a cat (Onyx). We are from Michigan but recently moved to Beaufort, South Carolina to escape the snow. My interests include reading (especially about philosophy, science, and history), watching documentaries/movies, pretending to exercise, and of course, video games.
