Jordan Belfort, also known as the Wolf of Wall Street, made his millions selling over the phone. You can say what you want about his old business ethics and methodology, but you cannot deny his ability to sell like a master.
Take a page from his book and apply some of his lessons to your pitch.

Successful people don’t just sit there and wait for success to happen. They go out and make it happen for themselves. That’s the one thing that all successful people have in common, regardless of profession. People like Michael Jordan and Bill Gates are not dreamers – they are doers. Dreaming without doing anything is nothing more than a wish.
Learn to Sell
This is an obvious one for us, being that we all work in sales and marketing to begin with. However, sales ultimately boils down to so much more. Regardless of what you are trying to accomplish, learning basic selling techniques and methods will help you tremendously in life.
Bill Gates had to sell his software concept to people. Michael Jordan had to sell his image. They are totally different, but very much the same. By becoming familiar with the selling process and by seeking ways to improve, it will help your chances of success.
Set your Goals High
Nobody ever accomplished extraordinary things by setting tiny goals and stopping there. If that were the case, launching a rocket up without it exploding would be the end of NASA. The goal was not just to make a functioning rocket – it was to put a man on the moon. That’s a huge goal (probably the biggest goal ever), but it was accomplished. Not easily, but it was done. It was done because that was the goal and vision.
If you want to truly be successful, set your goals high and do whatever it takes to accomplish them. It can be anything from being the top performer at your company to having the number one sales blog in the world, no goal is too ridiculous. It’s like Steve Jobs said – ‘The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are usually the ones who do.’
Have a Vision
Much like goal setting, you need to have a vision of your destination. You need to know where you are going and how you are going to get there. A goal without a vision is like a road trip without a car. You need the tools and the proper strategy to get there.
If your goal is to be a top performing salesperson, how will you get there? What actions will you take to improve yourself? What are your commitments? All of these are important and go with the vision.
Be Honest with Yourself
If you really want to be successful, you have to be 100% honest with yourself. Only you can look in the mirror and self-evaluate your strengths and weaknesses. By being completely truthful with yourself, you will be able to take the steps to self-improve yourself in a way that you never imagined. Only you can help yourself improve. Doing the opposite and lying to yourself is nothing but self sabotage.
Get Rich Quick
Jordan definitely mastered this concept. For a lot of us, getting rich is a relative term. It could mean making $75,000 in a year, or it could mean making $1,000,000. Making money is the end result of hard work, determination, and passion. It’s a way for us in sales to validate our efforts.
Master your Internal World
Attitude is everything. In the world of business, there are hundreds of external variables that are thrown at you every single day. Most of them are entirely out of your control. What you can control, however, is how you react to them and what you can personally do about it.
This is where being a master of your own emotional intelligence comes in to play. By being able to put a positive spin on the negative elements, you will have a much easier time overcoming the hurdles and will see success much faster than those who get stuck.
Try Your Hardest
Trying hard is one thing. I think that everyone tries hard to be successful. However, trying your hardest is something that few actually do. At the end of every day, only you can tell if you gave it all you’ve got. You should be absolutely drained at the end of your day. Luck and success favors those who work hard. It’s no coincidence.
Create your own Destiny
If you leave your destiny to other people, you’ll probably never truly see success at the level of Jordan. Only by going out and creating your own success will you actually ever achieve it. This can be everything from getting up earlier to prepare for your sales calls, to going out to start your own company. Regardless of what success is to you, go out and make your own.
